Dennis Foster is a wood turner, and has been perfecting his talent since starting in 1986. He first sold at small markets, then spent 5 years with Craft Promotions selling at large shows in Wellington and Auckland, and at Out Of NZ - a shop in Auckland.
Dennis moved to Napier in the early ‘90s having first lived at Mahanga Beach at Mahia. He spent some years specialising in hollow form pottery shapes, driftwood pots and natural edge bowls, vases and large urns. Since living in Napier he has turned for furniture makers supplying table legs and chair components and staircase posts. Having had a break from turning in later years, he has returned with fresh creative ideas and is enjoying making these substantial indoor or outdoor sculptures from found timber, leaving a rustic edge and turning them into stunning statues.
