“In everything, if we look close enough, is something beautiful” Ann Braunsteiner
Ann’s portraits are all about the personality and the feel of a character - she manages to tell a story through the facial expressions and colours.
“Clara & Anatol...childhood friends. Clara outgoing, curious & mischievous - Anatol is more cautious, doesn't really like to break rules - however with Clara that is often the case - nonetheless because of it their adventures are often colourful, explorative and of a learning value for both of them.
Sebastion & Oskar - equally childhood friends. Yet haven't seen each other for some time, not since they have been actually 9 years old.
Clara has stayed in touch with Sebastian via letters - it isn't however clear if he ever is receiving these. Clara too visits Oskar still - he has stopped talking, lives in a safe place - but is happy.
What connects them is a short story I am writing - the outcome - will they reunite is unclear - but as long as it stays unclear there is hope for a new encounter with each other in the future.”
Each of the Old Friends series is sold separately at $1400 each, and measure 56cm wide by 72cm high. They are mixed media collage on canvas.
